The Head in the Stars short film

"The Head in the Stars" is a short film created by four members of our team for the TV contest "Les Espoirs de l'Animation," organized by the French broadcast channels GULLI, CANAL J, and TIJI. From the initial concept to the final render, which was created in Unreal Engine, we aimed to craft a heartwarming story for children aged 3 to 6 years.

Elio is a baby sheep dreaming of reaching the brightest star in the sky.

He tries his best to achieve his goal, he wears spring shoes, uses a ladder, and even builds a cardboard rocket! However, despite his efforts, he cannot make his dream come true. When his flock sees him feeling sad, they decide to help him by mounting on top of each other to create a gigantic sheep tower!

Elio climbs to the top and finally gets to hug the star.

This project was completed in one and a half months.

The goal was to create a film that evokes the ambiance of a children's book, so we used colorful and painted textures. We encountered several technical challenges, including create wool, animating a flock of sheep, and ensuring that the matte painting was coherent with the 3D assets. Overall, it was an intense and enjoyable experience that strengthened our team's bond. We proved that we could be efficient even with a tight deadline.

This project was completed in a month and a half.

Our goal was to create a film that evokes the atmosphere of a children's book, so we used vibrant, painted textures. We faced several technical challenges, including how to create the appearance of wool, animate an entire flock of sheep, and implement the matte painting correctly to ensure coherence with the 3D assets.

Overall, it was an intense and rewarding experience that strengthened our team's bond and skills.

We demonstrated our ability to be efficient even with a tight deadline, a targeted audience, and specific broadcasting requirements.
